i just bought a 1990 honda civic lx 4door, 5spd, power winods/locks/mirrors (not that matters to find otu what kina motor) it has the 16 valve motor, is that a vtec? thanks

well when you're going along do you all of asudden feel this HUGE power rush that pushes you back in your seat and do your tires screach and your car takes off ? If not..no vtec. but heres the good news..it's my 100th post!

lol sorry. just being a dumbass..(waaay to many frosty cold beverages right now in me) but in all seriousness... You're car is probably not a vtec. unless it had a swap done before you bought it.

unless your motors been swaped your vtec less hell son you dont even got 4 fuel injectors! do the mpfi swap before you worry about vtec and the suchary

i checked the specs online though at msn iautos and it says that the civic lx has a 1.5L motor, and mine has a 1.6L, and according to msn autos thats the motor that was in the civic si, so i wanst shure, i really dont think the motor was swapped at any time

whoa hold up there i'm kinda lost your lx came with a 1.5L motor the code D15b2 now this motor also had a shitty Dual Point Injection system *black circle behind the vavle cover conects to air intake*
now you have a 1.6L in it do you have your motor code handy? cause if you have a 1.6L you have a swap of sorts. I understand you new with this but if we can find out what motor and injection you have we can help a ton more. Pix would be great if you dont mind

the motor just says 16 valves on it, u guess i was thinkign it was a 1.6 because of the 16, lol. it does say MPFI, but im still confused because msn autos says the lx has a 12 valve motor. i have no clue.

Look for the VTEC selenoid on the left side of the head.

Street racing is illegal...though we all do it so what.
