driver door lock

hey i just bought a 1990 honda civic lx 4door, 5spd, power winows/locks/mirrors. and the driver side door doesnt lock, when you flip the power door lock swtich it goes down a lil but not enough, and if you try to push it down it wont go down. does anyone have any ideas on whats wrong? and am i gonna need to take the door panel off? id appreciate any help because iits important to have all the doors lock with what im gonna e having inside. thanks alot

it sounds like a bent lock rod or a weak lock actuator. either way you have to pull the door panel. with the panel off check to see if the rod is hitting on anything.

i feel like such a dumba** honestly, it turns out i gotta lock it from the outside wit the key and its fine, heyw orks for me. thanks tho, i really feel stupid

Here is another way, pull out the handle of the car door opener(from the inside) and then hit the lock switch. This is a saftey type of precaution, it is to make it so you dont lock you keys in your car.

Yeah I just learned that trick of pulling the inside handle while locking it a month or 2 ago; I nearly p*ssed my pants when my buddy showed me it. Sure beats having to lock it with the key everytime I get out. Reminds me to get a copy of my key made too, incase I mess up and leave the key in there so I don't have to break my hatch to get in.
