Unhappy I smell gas

For some reason we smell gas fumes from my wifes 1992 custom. I also get a release of air pressure rushing out of the gas tank whenever I remove the cap from the tank. Does anyone know why this would be? I smell the gas all the time, and I don't overfill the tank, you know "top off". Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks

If I were you i would check the fuel injector seals under the plenum cover. If you have had any work done on the engine involving the removal of the fuel rail and injectors, the seals might not have been replaced. Check and replace appropriate ones.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I did find the cause last week. My supply and return metal fuel lines under the driver side of the car were rusting through. It took a while for them to rust enough for me to see it actually dripping under the car. I am fortunate the car didn't explode on me, it was leaking rather close to the cat. converter. I cut the line using a pipe cutter and installed some high pressure rubber fuel line. Boy do I get good gas mileage now, LOL.
