Hi,
I noticed smoke (very little) coming from the CD/Cassette system, then stereo stopped working. When I opened the stereo system, I have found couple of quarters in the CD player. ( I think my 3 year old has inserted couple of quarters in the CD player when I was cleaning the car). Dealer has told me that it will cost me around $300 to repair it. What should I do ? Should I check for any burned fuse? Your advise in this regard is highly appriciated. Thank you. Rao |

Re: 2000 Toyota Camry Stereo Sytem
Well, if you've taken the stereo apart, and removed the quarters, you should also look around and see if you can find any burnt looking spots inside of the player. If you can't, then you might want to look around inside for fuses...I do know that the radio separates into two sections. (cd player is removable from the unit) All you have to do is remove four little copper screws from the cd player and pull straight up...it comes right out...you should fully disassemble it and inspect every board for damage. It might actually be cheaper just to replace the whole unit rather than paying 300.00 for repair.
