Door lining

Took my car to the dealer and they said I need to replace the plastic lining in my door. Does anyone know anything about this? ie how to replace it?

Re: Door lining

by this i'm assuming maybe you had a leak, but if you pull your door panel off there is a sheet of plastic held on by some black tar like stuff that seperates the door frame from the electronics on your panel

yea i told the dealer i had a leak in my passeger side and he said it was in the door. said that needed to be replaced, but wanted $110 to do so. Do you know if I should just buy a sheet of plastic and replace it with the one in the door or is it a certain special kind of plastic?

Re: Door lining

nah, nothing special about this plastic, i'ld say it's about 4mil thick and anything around that should hold up just fine, as for the tar stuff i'm not sure what it is but you could probably use anything to hold it back in place or go to an automotive store and ask them. they do also sell a black tar in a tube like caulking at home depots, lowes etc. but again not sure if it's the same stuff.
