in need of help

i want to build my own custom sub box but don't have the slightest clue where to start. i have the sheet for the specs of my speakers

i started to draw out plans for the box just for one speaker ( i have two but figured if i could get the plan down for two then i could double it) but i'm totally lost with the volume part of it. i just don't understand how you can make a box that will hold the speaker and yet equal such little cubic feet.

1.25 cubic feet is a good size box.

If you wanted a cube box that's just 1 cubic foot, made of 1/2" wood, each of the 6 sides (remember geometry class) needs to be a 13" square. And remember, that's just 1 cubic foot. I don't know about you, but I think that's a good size.

You also need to line the inside of the box with fiber-fill (cheaply available at craft stores, it's used as stuffing).

If you do decide to build a cube for a box, remember that the thickness of the wood effects the volume. As a personal recommendation, don't use any thinner than 1/2" wood, but no thicker than 3/4" (you waste your money, it doesn't need to be any stronger) and run a bead of glue or sealant on the sides when you're assembling it.
