Re: Can I tow With my 96 Sedan Deville

Don't know difference between your car and my 99 deville, but I had weld shop put a receiver hitch on and rented a 5 x 8 from UHaul in Ohio and they insisted that they install a power module which draws power from the battery rather than the deville light wires in the trunk...said the trailer lights would overload the car light circuits and screw up the computer. Turns out that was a lie, but who was I to argue? Anyway, the trailer was easy to tow with one exception...... two or three times the message came on on the dash that the trans was overheated and I should pull over and idle to cool it.. which I did. Seems to have been the result of 70 mph towing, if I went 55-60 it was fine. The trailer was not that heavy (furniture) but the wind resistance must have heated the trans.
