'95 Buick Lesabre - Water Pump Bolts - Help!

I have a 95 Buick Lesabre 3.8, and am having a very hard time figuring out how to remove the engine bracket that is right in front of the bottom right side of the water pump....

I have loosened all the bolts on the water pump, and it moves but won't come off until the bracket is cleared. I loosened and removed the rubber mount by the fender and the big bracket moves, but won't come off unless I lift the engine, which I'm afraid to do.

Does anyone out there know how to get that mount off, and if it is by lifting the engine with a jack, where would the jack safely go so as to not break something underneath?

Thx for any help - life's stressfull with a broken car.

Re: '95 Buick Lesabre - Water Pump Bolts - Help!

Under the engine mount check in my Chilton it suggests to place a piece of plywood on the jack table and lift the motor from transmission or oil pan to inspect the motor mounts.

I guess the prefered way would be to lift the motor with an engine jack from the top of the motor but us home garage mechanics have to make due with what we got...eh.

Good luck either way.

a better bet you can also use a 2x4 or 2x6 under the oil pan
