Question ABS, Trac and Tire Pressure Lights On

Hi There ...

I have a 97 GT that seems to be having a few difficulties. For the past 2 days while driving, when I hit any type of bump, the ABS, Trac and Tire Pressure lights all come on at the same time! When this happens, the lights stay on until I turn off the car ... once I restart it the lights go out ... til I hit a bump again!!
Has anyone else had this problem? I would greatly appreciate any insight that anyone might have.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Under the dash, right below the steering column is a switch. Push it and hold it for 10 secs. That will clear tire pressure light.
Cost me $60.00 to find that one out. Never went back to that dealers again.

97's are notorious for wheel hub problems. Take off your tires and check all the wiring going into the hubs. You either have a bad hub or a wire that is shorting out.

My 97 had the tire pressure light come on. I took it to the dealer. "Switch" did it for that. May have something wrong with the panel that shows all of things that you have showing.
BUT Ripn knows more about this problem then I do.
My 98 has never had either problem that your haveing.

Hi Everyone ....

Thanks for the replies!! I'm not having a problem with getting the lights to go off, once I turn off the car and restart it all of the lights go off. Although the tire pressure reset button is a good one to know ... I never would have looked under there for it.
I think my problem may be a little worse than I originally thought .... Yesterday while making a right hand turn from a stop sign the steering wheel would not return back to the left!! I thought I was going to take out a few parked cars!! I had to turn the wheel REALLY hard to get it back! When I turn right it almost feels like there is no power steering fluid in it (but there is ... I checked)!
I'm going to have to take it to the garage I guess!
Again ... any input is much appreciated!!

Thanks Everyone ... ~ Dee ~

I have a 97 SE that is doing this now...

Is there an easy way to tell which wheel sensor/hub it is?

I don't want to replace all 4 for nothing...

Not a real easy way to check since if it's intermittant the sensor may show fine but really be messed up. If you were to have access to an osciliscope then it would make things way easier because it would show you breaks in the wave pattern.

Re: ABS, Trac and Tire Pressure Lights On

because you were making a right hand turn, I would say it's a left front hub bearing going bad. All the warning lights indicate a bad hub, as all are tripped due to one wheel rolling slower or with more resistance than the other wheels. Since the steering bound while the left front was loaded (car turning right) , that is the hub I would look to first.

Well, I'm not the original submitter..

My lights came on when I was just driving down the highway...

The right hub has already been replaced...but..maybe not the sensor?

Wiring may be messed up or not connected.

Re: ABS, Trac and Tire Pressure Lights On

on goldilocks car, it's the LEFT hub I suspect because she turning right when the noise is worst and that would load the left front hub causing that side to bind and not allowing the steering to return to center. The other thing it could be is a bad strut bearing, that would cause the steering to stick , but not the ABS light to go on
