Dumb question?

My Camaro has the Monsoon system and I was wondering if I can add a powered sub without messing that system up and what's the best way to do it? If this isn't a good idea please suggest another one...always open for suggestions! Thanks

Monsoon all together is good, but like any sub, you need to get an amp and ground it out...They have custom boxes for Two 12 inch subs for like 100 dollers on ebay...Also got to hook it up to your battery or what not

Re: Dumb question?

i dont know specifically about the monsoon system, but i know that there is a converter for the bose system that came in the early 4rth gens. it allows you to hook an aftermarket head unit to the factory amps. i dont know if there is something like that for the monsoon but you might want to look into it. or you could just ghetto wire the amp and not worry about a new head unit...

Re: Dumb question?

I have a 1999 Camaro with the Monsoon sound system. I recently added a 10" sub. The box is the MTX Thunderform (CF-10U). Don't waste money buying the loaded Thunderform with the weak MTX 6000 speaker installed. I did this and about 3 weeks later the cone started to rattle. I have a bridged 520 watt amp powering the sub. For speaker inputs, I originally just hooked up the high level inputs to the 2 rear most speakers. I recently bought a line out converter (changes the speaker wires from the high output factory wires to low level RCA plugs). This really cleaned up the sound. The only thing with the setup that I did notice is the Thunderform box keeps almost all of the bass inside the car....this is good if you want to crank it up and avoid a noise violation ticket...but bad if you want to show it off. But either way you definitely heare it in the car.
