1992 Jeep Cherokee battery tray removal please advise!

I had to drill out the bolts that hold the battery tray to the body. I was able to get the nuts off (!) but now I cannot remove the bolts.

The bottom of the bolts are in the top of the front right wheel well. The bolts have a flat bottom side. I tried to pry them out, no dice.

How are the battery tray bolts removed? Thank you in advance../..

Your attempting to replace the bolts correct? I would expect that they would be corroded or frozen on. First I'd determine if I could get to the underside and be able to replace the bolts. If so, I would use a dremmel tool..cut the bolts flush and then drill them out. Get some new stainless bolts and hardware etc. I would put a protectant on the bolts and nuts.

If you have an earlier model cherokee know that they had corrosion problems due to a faulty overcharging design. If your car had that problem replace the battery cables with stainless connectors. Local parts houses will have the soft recall fix cables. Corrosion runed my battery tray, vacuum hoses (affected my ac, cruise control etc).
