04 1500 5.3l,4wd, ext cab, sport side.
I hear a noise that sounds like sheet metal being pushed in and then pops back into place. The sound happens when on the highway and there is a crosswind. Don't know where to start looking. The noise happens only when the wind is strong enough and will continue thru-out the span of the wind. It sounds like it is coming from the top of the cab but that is just a guess. Thanks Troy |

Troy, my 2003 extended cab 2500 does the same thing. I think it is besause the roof is so long and doesn't have the ridges in it like a most Fords do. I am not sure but I think it is normal and have not complained to my dealer because I don't think there is anything they can do about it. I hope this helps

Re: Noise when windy
i've heard there might be somthing with the
doors could be a fix...insulating inside of the doors with foam..egg crate type foam....stuffing it in the cracks...between the door skin and frame |

I think I have found out what is causing the noise. I went to a drive thru car wash and at the end of the wash there is a dryer to dry off the water. Several dryers in fact. They were blowing all over and guess what? When the dryers passed over the cab I heard the noise! So I guess when the wind hits the cab roof just right the noise is going to happen. Wonder when it will start leaking? I think I will call the dealer and see what they say.. Thanks Troy
