Dumb ass friends with their Dumbass idea

My friend came up to me with a suggestion, why pay 5000 for a turbo when you can hook an electric leaf blower up to your intake and get the same affect.... this was so stupid.. when i 1st heard it..... but now im thinking........ its the same princible as a turbo... with an air filter of course..????

yeah i know it might not be that high of a psi, but ... itd be like ram air..im guessing. It would still push more air into your intake.. alot more air

no im not.. im at work now... but dude.. im telling you.. it does the same thing that a turbo does.. forces air into the cylnders... the blower would do the same thing.. just at a lower psi.. would it or would it not make more power

dunno if it would make a difference. On one hand it should feed a little more air into the motor, but would an electric motor from a leaf blower survive under the hood of a car for any period of time? Ram air intakes give very little power increase anyway, and cost the same as a leaf blower.

It woud push more air and even better air than a conventinal intake would. Like he said probably be like Ram Air on a car

P.S. it is only 3k and up for a tubo KIT but it depends also on what kit and for what car

yeah i know what you are saying.. but i mean.. its something to think about.. what if u had 2 or 3... u wouldnt really have to put them under the hood.. if u had a pipe or a hose u could put them anywhere. or even a gas one.. hooked up to the throttle linkage... or something!.. it would still give you a noticeable power increase.. woudlnt it? or is this the complete wrong fourm for this

or what if u took ur a/c lines and wrapped them aroudn the intake... turned it on for a few min before a drag race then shut it off.. the lines and ur intake would be about 40*..

Your leaf blower plan wouldnt work out.. We had a big discussion about fans and electric turbo's a little while back didnt we??

Not only would the leaf blower have to keep up with the vacumm in your intake, but itd haveto build boost ontop of that, which Ive never seen any leaf blower strong enough to do..
The intake wheel in a turbocharger spins at approx. 100,000rpms.. And has to operate at Extreme tempatures to create boost.. Your not going to be able to stick a "fan" into your intake and expect to get any results even CLOSE to the smallest turbo available
