Dont do it camaros are crap in the snow and the snow and salt just make them rott. Even with snow tires and something heavy in the back they still suck.

Re: Z28 in the winter

Ive drivin' 4 diff. camaros year round here and our winters get pretty harsh..

It all depends on how you drive.. If your not stupid about it, they can be a decent winter car.. (no deep snow though) Get some decent winter tires..(Nordic Icetrac or Bridgestone Blizzack) and throw a couple sandbags in the rear tub and you'l be ok

Re: Z28 in the winter

i had to drive the T/a one day in the winter. was on an icy road, and had to stop at a stop sign, it was a bit of an incline, and i wasnt going anywhere.

p245/60 R15's in a summer style tire = not good for ice. id just go with some all season tires, and stud them.

Thanks for your replies!
The winter in ND gets really cold and icey, we dont get a lot of snow(not thick anyway) and they are pretty good at keeping the roads clear.
Im buying it next week when I get over there!

Re: Z28 in the winter

I have Blizzak MZ02 I think they are. I think they're like 205/55's or something. The guy at Tire Rack helped me pick them out. I don't have ASR. I do live in Chicago. I haven't had any serious problems, except the one winter I got impatient and put the summer tires back on too early. Then it took me 45 minutes to get in my garage from the driveway after a heavy snow .

Re: Z28 in the winter

well, i have to go either way, it depends on how good of a driver you are, no offence intended. dont get me wrong, ive taken a turn in the snow too fast, almost recovered but wound up nose down ass up in a ditch on the side of the road. but then again ive crawled up an ice covered hill that several four wheel drive pickups couldnt handle. and ive got an open rear end.

Re: Z28 in the winter

yeah ive gotten up icey hills that our fwd traction controlled monte carlo ss wouldnt go up, if youre responsible you wont have many problems. as far as the car gettin eatin up, ummm, what car doesnt? they cover the roads white with salt in PA i dont think it really matters what you drive, and if you do it at the right time you can wash it clean anyways.

I live in Michigan and the roads really suck in the winter but I did manage last winter with no major problems (few times was on the edge of my seat and I did get stuck in the driveway twice) and that was on the BFG G-Force tires (I AM getting Blizzaks before this winter). If you realize these cars aren't made for this kinda stuff and treat them accordingly (go slooooowww), you'll be fine.
