I have a '98 Lumina with a strange steering problem. The car will turn left with no problem at all with power assisted steering, but will not turn right unless I pull full strength with both arms. This does not occur all the time though, and it does not matter if warm or cold. Does anyone have a possible solution to the problem?

Recall
Many of the Luminas were recalled with for potential steering problems. Did you have yours checked out by a dealer?

Re: Power Steering '98 Chevy Lumina 3100
Many FWD GM cars suffered from morning sickness caused by degredation of seals in the rack. Always occured when cold, though. Yours may have some kind of spool valve issue. I would remove some fluid and replace with Lucas P/S fluid or KW TransSeal and see if it clears up before replacing the rack.

GTLumina was right, I found the bulletin, and the problem was exactly as you described it. Lean on the dealer for a recall repair.
