the vy was such a backward step from the vx - looks wise.... and the old 308 5.0 v8 is better than the 350 GEN3 5.7

The LS1 was done by GM in the States, not Holden. I used to be able to blow away Holden V8's away in my mildly-tweaked Mondeo 2.5 V6, then the LS1 hit the street and in 1999 and all of a sudden Holdens got fast.....

Edit: Maybe the 5.0 is the best engine CREATED by holden, but doesnt have shit on an LS1.

i owned one origional 5.0L for my first car and it was a great car but personally i think that the GEN3 is one of the worst engines created by holden. (nothing to do with power or anything, i have one in my fourby). but they main reason is that holden have tottally stuffed up with the GEN3 and it is rare that you will find one that hasnt been rebuilt.
