94 Civic DX cooling issues.

My friend has a 93 Honda Civic DX with a D16B8 (I think). Well, I do know its a single cam non-vtec motor. It has a auto tranny, and a air ride system that leaks. My question is about the cooling system. It runs hot real quick. We put a new radiator and thermostat in it, we flushed the rest of the system. I put fluid in the resovour, and withing 2 min, it is empty. It has a hissing noise coming from the tining belt side, and I think it is the water pump. I can feel water towards the top of the motor from the bottom, but I cant see anything from the top. So this also gives me reason to beleive that this is the water pump. Does anybody else have this issue? Can I just replace the pump and fix it? What's the deal, I don't know much about single cams, I am really a B-series guy. Reply asap please.
