Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Shading looks good so far, proportions not so good, but not bad enough to make it look out of shape. Btw you've added porshe headlights, try making yours more square. Great job so far!

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Looks nice! The shading could do with a little more variety though. As for the proportions, the windscreen doesn't look right because the sticker along the top goes too thin, and the drawing doesn't look as stocky as the pic. Plus you still haven't changed the headlights.

the windshield area desperately needs redooing, and some more contrast wouldn't hurt.

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
recession into space of hood (bonnett) plane is correct, whilst roof plane is not. you need to make these match. you have the roof sloping to the viewer. it should recede from the viewer as does the hood.
i can nit pick all day: rear wing is not high enough off the trunk (boot lid). wheel arches are too square on sides. need to match photo more. side glass is too short. make it taller. glass slopes down at corner of rear mirror. see that? yours is flat, making the glass too short from top to bottom. there is more, but you are on a good track with this drawing. even if you do not see what i mean, finish the piece anyway and save it as a document for posterity. |

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Get some rubber on that bad boy!!
Your wheels need to flow like the car does. If you go through and fully render the car without the wheels when you get to the wheels you will be in a different place mentally. As it is now there's no indication of stance or attitude. You have a great drawing going here.....draw it. I find that if I tackle the areas I struggle the most with first I can cruise to the finish. Nice work. -Lemorris

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Bart,
I drew an R-34 because you asked for peops. to draw one in another thread. I wasn't trying to copy you or anything, (just letting you know). ![]() But, hey man your Do-luck is looking great, like Ra15 said add some shade variations so the car will look more 3D (from a tone/value perspective). Your ride looks very 3D from a line drawing perspective. Add more contrast so the parts of the car that face upwards (esp. in the folds on the front spoiler) will look more 3D. Look at your ref. pict. Oh, your shading (smoothness) looks great too. Take care Al

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Bart,
This looks good. I would work more on the rims and tires. The wind-shield banner (far side/passenger) line should not come up so high, examine your ref. pict. Here is a link on drawing rims. http://www.drawthrough.com/tutorials/index.html Draw a bunch. I still have to work on my free hand ellipses The tutorial above is my favorite. Scott also has a book called "How to Draw Cars the Hot Wheels Way" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846 I found the book at Books-a-million it had a blue cover though (same ISBN). I seems like a good book esp. if you want to design your own cars in proper perspective.

Re: Nissan Skyline Project!!!!!!!!!!
Just like Al said.
I like it better with the wheels under it, now you need some contrast to make it pop. You might want to get some french curves ($5) and use your straight edge on your rims where you can. Stay light and go over your line until you have a good feel. It's kinda like training your arm for the motion it's about to make. Then use a lttle pressure and lock it down. Keep goin. -lemorris
