Need electrical help, PLEASE!

To make a long story short, I was about to cut the wires from my 1997 S-10's rearview mirror when, as I broke through the plastic protecting the wires, my radio went dead. The fuses are ok, and the clock still works on the receiver, but I cannot play music through either the cd or radio. Could I have shorted the radio out somehow? I have an after-market receiver, but I am at a loss for what happened, since no wires were actually cut. The map lights on the mirror still work.

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you blow the courtesy fuse? It supplies protection for both the mirror lamps and the stereo.
