So i'm on my way home from work today and i'm on the bypass doing the speed limit (65) and this guy comes up the on-ramp right next to me in a Volvo and asks me if I want to run. So I tell him hell yes! He says we go from rolling start at 40 until the next exit, and I agree. So we reduce speed and begin the countdown......... 3,2,1.......... I drop into 3rd and punch it, and before I know it i'm about 1 1/2 car lengths in front. As soon as I shifted into 4th I hear something behind me (I thought he might have blown something) and look in my rear view to make sure the guy is still on the road, but there is no car behind me! Before I could even figure out what was going on he blows past me with a $#IT eating grin on his face and when he got about 4 car lengths in front of me he switches on his neons and strobes to flaunt his victory. I follow him off the exit and he pulls over in the closest parking lot. I ask him what the hell kind of car does he REALLY have, because there's no way I just got SMOKED by a Volvo! He said it was really a Volvo.... C70 to be exact, and he had a stock TurboCharger in the damn thing. After a few minutes of conversation I learned that his machine was a very nice piece of work. Just goes to show you that you cant always judge a book by its cover! Oh yea, BTW, i'm running a 92' Accord LX manual 5-Speed.

Dude, are you joking? I don't know which ones you were racing but even the 3 year old Volvos have 240 hp and 240 lb ft of torque.

What mods have you done to your accord?

The volvo is a Luxury car, just because it's a luxury car, it doesn't mean that it's slow.

Did you think they were gonna make luxury cars that are slower than 13 year old entry level family sedans? If I'm not mistaken, the C70 is even Volvo's top of the line model.

Well i've driven a few Volvos myself and every one of them were dead slow. I had no idea that I was racing a C70 until after the fact. As far as mods go, its all stock except for the clutch and tranny.

Yeah volvos are more sleeper than I thought...volvo brings memories of the old station wagons..but they have come a long way...I really forget about thim amit Europe/Scandinavia cars

I used to drive that Volvo. It was fuck fast! Eurospec Sport V40 T4 215 horsepower 2.4 liter engine.

From 0-60 mph my SiR could beat it, because it took very long to spool the turbo, lots of lag, but once rolling on the highway it pulled very very well. I drove that volvo then we sold it, then I bought the SiR. But I raced my car against an exact same one, except gold color and it was neck and neck in the quarter mile, I took it by 3 cars up to 60 mph but then vrroooommmm....it came closer and closer and faster and we ended nailing the exact same time on the quarter.

atleast ur stock...which jus means u've got LOTS of room for improvement. nice death.
