What is the average operating tempature for a 1992 Grand Am? I know its going to be different for city driving and highway but if someone could tell me what theres rides at that would be great.

Re: Operating Tempature
i would say that anywhere between 160 (highway)-200 (city). If ur running hotter than 210-215 you might wanna get that checked out. Not that it is going to blow up on you but if its that high then you have a coolant problem and it will gradually get hotter.

Re: Operating Tempature
I noticed gm engines like to get real hot real easy and its normal too see the temp guage read high temps , my car did it especially when it was newer now it still does it but cools down quicker. I also added a 180 themostat instead of the 195 it had still gets hot and the coolent system is running 100% and the only bad thing i noticed is it eats more gas and less mpg when its hot. Gotta ghetto style it and use the defrost on high heat and fan on max to make internal engine temps drop quicker.
