VW Golf GL III question w/ check engine light

Hello, I'm the new guy here and I was wondering what does it mean when the check engine light comes on during a straight driving. The engine would seem to loose a little bit of power and the check engine light comes one, but I have the AC going. It will seem to slow down and the engine would kind of seem to sputter a little bit, but when I press on the accelerator for more power, the light goes off. Is it the injectors or is it something minor or major. Please help. Thanks in advance,

Reli

Re: VW gold question w/ check engine light

It means there is a problem with the engine management or emissions systems. If this is on a '94 you can read the codes youself. I've posted instructions on several threads in this forum.

But, I also notice that this only occurs when the AC is on. Soon as I turn off the AC, it runs fine.
