Question 3sgte or 03 gts!?!?!?!?

Hey guys,
As some may know i have a 90 gt hatchy (5sfe) automatic with intake and exhaust.
I have serious plans for a 3sgte swap with a manual 2wd tranny.
Well, everythings been alright untill tonight... i rode along with a buddy. He has a 03 gts with intake and exhaust... But it HAULS!
Faster than any car ive been in including a 02 turbo jetta (25 psi)!
It could be that Im just used to the 5sfe... or maybe cuz its auto.. or both.
I talked to the owner of the gts and asked him does he think i could hang with him with the 3sgte. and he said ya no prob.

MY QUESTION IS WHAT SHOULD I DO. GET A 3SGTE SWAP WITH AUTO TO MANUAL CONVERSION ON A 90 CELICA OR GET A 7TH GEN GTS?
WHATS MY OPTIONS. IM A STUDENT AND DONT WANT PAYMENTS SO I DUNNO BOUT A NEW CAR...

OPINIONS?

Why dont you get an all trac celica and forget about the hassle of swapping everything.

Or buy a car and start with a better platform.

Dober, how many all trac do you see driving around?
plus most of the time gt/gt-s with the 3sgte in em are faster than the all tracks, 700 pound difference

Re: 3sgte or 03 gts!?!?!?!?

were the 7th gens GT's or GT-S's w\ a 6 sp. because I havent drivin' in a faster celica than a GT-S. Pulls really hard and handles really good. I havent drivin an all trac though but I think a turbo 2ZZ would be a better engine just because its lighter and can rev way higher. just my .02 cents.

Suuuure. A 7th gen GT stock will run circles around a 5th gen GTS stock. The 5SFE has 5-10 horses less and the 7th gen weighs a far sight less than a 5th gen GT-S. I find it hard to believe you beat a 7th gen in that car unless

a) the driver was retarded, or

b) they had an automatic (and even then it would be close)

I have owned both cars and ANY 7th gen stock will toast ANY (exc All-Trac) 5th gen stock.
