Re: engine clean

1 quart of tranny fluid to every oil change. Or you can drain your oil then use 4 quarts of diesel fuel run for five min. then drain and put new oil in.

Re: engine clean

I've heard of the deisel fuel thing, but I'm kinda scared to run just fuel in my engine. I know the fuel is full of oil, but still...this wont hurt it?

gasoline and diesel are both oils...
Diesel is thicker than gasoline its is a wonderful detergent/solvent for cleaning raw engines to rebuild or if you have a blown head gasket and you want to clean up the rust and remove the deposits it left behind...on the other hand diesel EATS rubber, plastic hell its very toxic to people... if your engine is exposed to diesel for a long enough time it WILL eat away at your main seals and valve guides cause premature mantance and costing you money for choosing that method.

Re: engine clean

pull,

Is your engine sludged up, or are you just thinking prevention? I looked into my 42,000 mile 5.3's oil fill tube today, and it looks as clean as new. I have used Mobil 1 oil since the second oil change.

I've been doing some reading about additives on Bob is the Oil Guy.com. There's a lot of info about a product called Auto-Rx. It's pricey and mail-order only, but most of the people who post say it works. I am trying to decide whether to get some for a Saturn that drinks oil. You can go to this page and do a search without signing up:

Re: engine clean

I read up on this Auto-Rx kind of sounds like it has teflon in it because the engine is running cooler. Wouldn't this make the piston slap a little longer with the knocking. I am not saying it doesn't work but just curious.

Re: engine clean

I don't really know what is in the Auto-Rx, but it probably wouldn't be getting good reviews on that site if it had teflon--any reference to teflon additives I've seen on Bob is the Oil Guy are negative. I did just order some Rx to see what it does in the old Saturn with gummed up rings.
