check engine light

I own a 1992 tbird, V8, 5.0 HO. Runs nice, no over heating and no problems except for check engine light. Usually it comes on within five miles of being on the highway. How can I disconnect this without giving myself more concerns. I don't have the codes.......I just want to have it turned off and stay off for awhile. I am also wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to what website to look in for recalls. Thank you

Re: check engine light

Usually, but not always, a check engine light that comes on after 5 miles or so is due to bad O2 sensors. Go to Autozone or somewhere that pulls codes for free. Replace the bad parts and that will solve your check engine light problem.

As far as recalls: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm
