New Rims!!!!

The time has come to upgrade the wheels on my 03 gt, and I wanted to take advantage of the years of experience on this forum and ask a few newbie questions...

I am looking at a set of 16" chrome ar rims but I wouldnt mind gettin 17 or 18" if possible, If I do change the wheel size what problems might I run into besides the speedomiter(which I don't use anyways) will there be any steering / handling / power changes?

My main issues are: (1) I dont want to run into the wheel well like ghetto civics with 18s, (2) rim price, (3)tires price 17" cost a lot more.

Also, anyone have any feedback on spinners? I've heard that the bearings tend to jam and no long spin freely and evenly after 6 months or so..

personally i would never get anything above 18 at all or else it turns into the ghetto civic. if i were you i would look into 17's......if you get too big it hurts your performance....handling characteristis might improve a little bit but how many times do you really need it


yea gotta worry about tire prices too that's why my own opinion is buy a good set of 17's and you should be pimpin

i like 17's because its a bigger plain for better handling when your running 17 245 40 than a 16 205 or 225 60 - but 18's are more for looks if you want great handling dont go bigger than 18 like he said - i would highly recomend some nice 17's make sure u have good tires though - cause otherwise ya'll just hydroplane in the rain/snow all the time especially when the tread wear is down ---- good luck check out www.tirerack.com they have a cool thing that lets u see what your car looks like with different rims an sizes on it ... never bought any there tho - so duno bout the prices .....

nope - you should get a nice set of bridgestone potenza's when u throw on the 17's increase in handling will feel really good ..... 17's will fit nicely acually - 18's prolly would but i duno because if they are even wider than like 245 or around there u might start an have rub on bumps an such.... ya know what i mean .... i would go with some sharp lookin 17's .... an a nice set of potenza rubbers if u got the cash if not try an get some goodyear eagle z's/zr's i had them b4 my bridgestone's an they handle supurb on my 17's 245 40 17r's good luck if ya want some help on finding nice set of rims that look good start poll with the kind ya like an see what everyone says... or if u give me a price per rim i can give ya some suggestions..... on a style to look for....

if ya want sporty yet contemp. lookin rims check out some primax wheels i got a set of 17's from an was very pleased..... but ya give me the info what ya go to spend an such... from my earlier post... later man

cool choice - you gonna get a package of rubber & wheels or you get rubber cheaper around you local? ..... hope ya really found what ya want - its hard with a choice of so many wheel selections these days.... later man
