Unhappy lost faith in pontiac

hi all
i have a 02 g.p. gt, had it for about a month, and its having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. it'll shift but hesitates. and them when turning left and hitting a bump like pulling into a store it'll make this loud knock noise from the driver front tire. i can feel the whole car jump a bit. and its not from cranking the wheel to sharp. took it to the dealership because its still under factory warranty.(28k) they thinks it might be a sticking valve in the tranny, but they got no clue what the knock is. gonna tear into it monday morning. so ii was wondering if any one else has expeirenced any of this.
i loved this car at first, but im havin second thaughts now.

if you bought a 02 gt with only 28k on it then it has probably suffered abuse, either by the old owner or you. Since the dealer is honoring hte warranty and attempting to fix it, theres no reason you should lose faith in pontiac... You should lose faith in your ability to spot a lemon.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

Boy that's kind of hard.
If I'm turning out of a drive that is on a hill, it loses traction for a sec. The trac light comes on, as long as you stay off the gas, everything is fine after that.
Let the dealer have it for three weeks, and then tell you they don't know what it is. Or take it to a good trans shop. As long as they don't open it, your still under warranty. Then you can tell dealer what it is.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

the car is mint no dings, so scrathes, no stains it looks like it just came off the lot., one owner, and has not been abused, i got the number from the previous owner, hes a middle aged teacher, its all highway miles, i have not beat it, it not a muscle car to drive hard. and its a nice car its got every posible option pontiac offered so its not like a base model the guy didnt care about, he got married and she had kids, he traded the car for a mini van.(tough trade) and it was completely checked over by the dealership i got it from i even got a 6 year warrenty from them. so they also thaught it was a good car to.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

Yea, mine has every slip for oil change, tires, wipers, ect. Even have print out from window, ($25,000.00). You said they gave you a SIX YEAR WARRENTY on a 6 year old car. Are you saying it's covered under warrenty till 2010? You can't get that on most new cars. You might want to check that, or rewrite it.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

Sorry, make that a 2 year old car. Mine is six years old. STILL 6 years on a used car is too good, but who knows.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

the powertrain has a 10yr warrenty thats prolly what he's referring to... maybe the car was just had a defect ~ either way you shouldnt hate pontiac because they are taking care of you and fixing it.

Sorry I came off hostile, I guess I just get defensive when ppl talk about my saviors (jk).

i dont hate pontiac just majorly bumbed, love the car its bad ass looking.and it in such awesome shape, really taken care of. the warrenty is from the dealership i got it at. its a dodge dealership (gene stepheys , Fremont NEbraska) its six years from date of purchase. its not as good as manufactuerer warrenty but still really good.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

the recalll i think was for the powerstearing box,cuz it included a few cars, my g-mas cutlass fell into the catagory and i remember seeing grand prixs on the list.
they figured mine out, they said the knock was a bad wheel bearing on the front left, and the tranny was a hung up valve, they,re replacing bearing and whole valve assembly. hope its it other wise it gonna spend alot of time there while its still under gm warrenty.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

got the car back today, it had both front wheel bearings replaced and the valve assembly, drove it about 2 miles and turned around and took it back to sid dillion (gm dealership) the car bucks like crazy when it shifts now, and lunges like mad when going from reverse to drive. and the service engine soon light kicked on. its worse now than before. any ideas anyone?
i made a scene and got a car to use from them, its a newer olds intrigue, nice car, for now. they screw up my grand prix, i think i return favor. is there no good shops left? you think a dealership shop wouldnt have stuff like this, do they not test drive them? and i have a couple of huge scratches on the bumper and fender now from them.
i still need to vent, gonna go nuetral drop the olds.

Re: lost faith in pontiac

GOT ME CAR BACK!!!!
the second valve assembly had a bad sensor i guess. shifts perfect now, cant even tell unless u watch tach, plus they buffed out the scratches, after telling me they where already there, i told them to call the dealership i got it at cuz it was just in and got a protection package done to the whole car, that shut them up and they polished the scratches.
