I have a '93 Ranger XLT 2WD automatic ... At first there was a bit of a
delay in the truck engaging into drive from park when the vehicle was cold. Then that delay progressed into minutes of delay, but would eventually engage ... Once the truck entered Drive it would drive and shift just fine. It has finally got to the point where it's not driveable. I found a possible explanation a while back on the Internet, but I can't relocate the info. Something like a convertor maybe???? First, what's the possibly failing/failed component? Second, is this repairable short of an overhaul? (Or does it requires dropping the transmission, etc. so you might as well overhaul it!) Part II of this story ... I'm thinking about sending it on to the shop ... so today I changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, plug wires, jumped it off and after a fair amount of coaxing it was running fairly smoothly .. still will not go into any of the forward gears, will go into reverse smoothly though ... what's up with the tranny!!!!! Re: 93 Ford Ranger 2WD Will Not Enter Engage Forward Gear
The thing youre talknig about is youre torque converter. A tranny isnt exactly like an engine where you can try simple things to get it to function correctly. you need to get it looked at.
