85 to 88 Fiero

Hey everyone what do we do when we have 9 models in progress... WE START ANOTHER! Al little background on the project my late grandfather owned literally one of the first Pontiac Fiero 1984 2M4's in the end of 1983 he ordered it without even seeing a picture of he he just read the spec sheet. Then he got one of the very last 88 GT's in the end of 88 but he custom ordered his with the rear spoiler delted and the side louvres deleted as well. So today at my LHS I purchased a 1985 Fiero model and am going to convert it to his 1988. I am also doing this because my unlce was about 12-13ish when my grandfather hand the 2M4 and he built a model of that so I decided I should build the GT. Bear in mind that none of these are his actual cars, he never owned a 1985, the 1984 was sold years ago, but his 1988 is in my moms garage so expect a lot of engine detail on this one

A 2M4

My current project will be this..

Converted to this

Could someone hook me up with a set of those BBS style multi-spoke wheels for the 88, I may be willing to pay for them if there what I'm looking for

Hello, I'm a Fiero owner, and also working on that conversion I also have an early one, a 1984 SE, built in late '83, number 24,421 built. I have a small collection of Fiero kits I'm working on, all being different conversions or models (Indys, GT's SE's etc.).

For the conversion to an 88, about all you have to do is make the fastback clip, modify the decklid so it is flat and doesn't have the 'hump' on the back, and scratch build the taillights. (plus many, many other small things only an enthusiast would notice, but I can list them if you like )

OR if you want to go the easy/expensive route, there WAS a fastback kit made in 1/25 scale by a company called MPC. They sold it as the 86, 87, and 88GT kits. Unfortunately these kits usually go for $30-50 on Ebay, but all you'd have to do is assemble and paint it.

If you do build it out of the 85 GT, the diamond spoke wheels are almost identical (in this scale anyway) to wheels that came on late third gen Trans Ams, and those kits are easy to find. In fact the Knight Rider KITT kit had the wheels in it, and they're close enough.

Hands down the BEST site for reference material is our Fiero Forum, feel free to join and ask any questions you have on the car, we'd be more than happy to answer them. It's a VERY active forum too.
