Question check engine light/no trouble code

I have a 1983 S-10 Blazer with California emissions and the check engine light is constantly on. When you connect the 2 test terminals under the dash the light is still on constantly (no codes). It runs fine. Any ideas?

Re: check engine light/no trouble code

you will need a better way of scanning codes. find someone with a scan tool. if the check engine light is on, there is a code/codes present. i have never seen a check engine light come on without a code. if you use a scan tool and still dont get any codes the only possible problem is the ecm. make sure you are jumping the correct terminals and that you are following the proper procedure when you are jumping them. get a haynes or = manual for that vehicle it will show you how. your best bet is to find a friend or someone with an obd1 scantool.
good luck!

Saturday I took the car to GM, they looked at it for an hour, found no codes, said they disconnected the computer and it ran the same, and told me to bring it back and leave it for 2 days and they would take the dash apart and try to find the problem. That's scary.

well all i can say is the same thing happened to me and they sold me a bunch of crap service that they said they did but they didn't they robbed me of $500 and now the check engine light is on again and making a noise

So don't let it happen to you find someone who you can trust because the dealers are BS robbers.
