Angry Stupid Integra

Integras and I have it in for each other. I can't seem to complete one. I've had five kits so far, and four I've attempted to build. The first was to be box stock, because I was still new to modelling but I was newish and broke a lot of stuff. I tried another in black, but the paint I used was semi-gloss Tamiya and I tried to clear it with Testors enamal. Monumantal failer. Then I tried to make a model of my friend's car, because it was hot and she was hotter, but when I tried to spray it in touch-up paint it, the paint got weird and cottony and it looked like it was covered in a Firepepper Pearl cobweb. I sanded most of it out, but realized I hadn't painted the spoiler. I got a new bottle of paint, but by this time it had gone from Christmas present to graduation present to.... well, regrettably the beautiful owner drove her car back to Utah and the project got shelved.

So this is my fourth. It was originally going to be blue, with a Cf hood, but I had to strip it and respray it. My second idea was to paint the hood, roof, and trunk white, and the rest blue (I had the hood in white primer, and it looked neat against the blue body before it was stripped). But then, one night, I realized I still had some Imola Orange left over from that lousy NSX I made. I figured this time, with white primer, that color would POP and it would be hot. So, here goes:

Well. The engine bay is painted badly, so I don't really want to put my hot little B18 turbo in there. Besides, I don't really like the orange, it didn't pop as much as I would've liked, even after a pearl overcoat. Oh well. The rims I think are beautiful, but a little big (1:24 v. 1:25) and worst of all, what was Revell thinking with their suspension and wheel attachement?! How vague is all that garbage! And how impossible is it to make it 1. look right and 2. put non-kit wheels on it? Geez, Revell, now I remember why I don't like you. [Expletives deleted]!!! So I cut the backs of the rims, put on smaller Fujimi tires, and still had trouble fitting, I mean, look how high that sits! I should park it next to my green Hilux.

See?

Since I was using SAS brakes, I decided to make centers from aluminum tube (much like making the muffler) and then, well, just epoxy the aluminum "hubs" to the.... well, to the imaginary Integra parts Revell made up under there. Deciding this is far too unwillimo, I decided to rip it out, and do it again the next day and do it right and broke a wheel and ruined a perfectly good set of SAS brakes in the meantime. Now this model is back on my shelf, looking ugly and brown and I've decided Revell Integras can all just burn in hell.

[/crazy angry rant]

Re: Stupid Integra

Will. Calm down, it's only a Honda! Jeez.

...j/k. man I know what you're talking about. I've built 4 ITR's 1 fujimi and my first revell came out like crap, so i ditched it. the second came out ok, and then crapped so i dremeled it up and converted to rwd with a v8. then it rolled ( i dunno how, the wheels were expoxied where they wont roll) off the shelf and it crushed itself.... OMG! Model Suicide!

Then my turbo ITR came along and well, that went great for me. But, maybe you should take a break from HONDA's with an A on them. Just build some lil badass clean (not ricey) civics with turbos and such. Then try an itr down the road.

Re: Stupid Integra

I don't see why you guys are having so much difficulties lol, i built a revell integra as my first model ever and it came out without any broke part nor anything wrong.

willimo, im kind of liking that orange with the black hood, but i would really throw away the Tamiya RX-7 wheels and put some rims that come from a Revell tuner kit.its in scale 1:25 and easier to fit.

But those tires... no sidewall! You can't drive with those, and they're undoubtedly full of slop when racing. No, can't use their wheels and tires, unacceptable.

Wheels and tires look fine. Ride height is spot on (as a rigid suspension would keep the rock & roll at bay and you could actually get into a driveway or over a speedbump without ripping off the front spoiler).

As for the model suspension...I personally don't care and would love to build most cars as curbside or slammer.

So scratch it up using ally tubing and wire springs for the struts. Scratch the a-arms outta sheet if you have to. Get some big old brakes behind the rims and finish it up!

Put it on the shelf and end that curse!!!

Oh, and what base coat color did you use for the orange? Maybe a white would have made it "pop-out" more?????

Either way, it looks a lot better than you claim!!!...

Re: Stupid Integra

Nice story there Now to me the car looks quiet okay. I say: Go on with it, building isn't supposed to be easy. I think it would be some sort of victory for yourself to finish this one beautifully. With a extra bit of perseverance we all know you can

Re: Stupid Integra

I totally understand what your going thru. I had my fujimi kit for over 3 months still primered and finally painted, then the unthinkable happened. My front lip fell in the sink and was never found.
now i don't even want to finish it.
