97 Headlight cornering lamp question

My family just got a 97 lesabre used. The headlights are fogged up and one of them got cracked in a parking lot after we bought it (fender took a huge hit too).
So i was looking at headlight assemblies online to get price quotes... looking at around $130 each.

BUT... i don't know if i need the assembly equipped with or without the Cornering Lamp option or whatever... i don't even know what it is really.

How can i look at my headlight assemblies on my car and tell if it has the cornering lamp option or not? also if i don't have the option on my car can i use the headlight assembly with the cornering option because an assembly without the cornering option is about $20 more.

if it is a limited model it probably has the corner lamp.only the driver side headlamp will have this option. If your headlamp has a 5 prong plug it will have the corner light.4 prong plug is w/out
If your original light doesn't have the corner lamp you can swap out the installed wiring on the headlamp and put it on the new one(with corner lamp) to make it work. You will just have to cover the corner lamp hole or find a light and socket to fill it.

Re: 97 Headlight cornering lamp question

Cornering lamps help when making a turn at niight by providing light to the side when you are making a turn (controlled by the turn signals). This lights the curb/shoulder in the direction of the turn. They appear as a clear lens that wraps around to the sides from the main headlights. You maybe able to see the buld behind the lens if you look carefully.

If the lights on the other side still work, you can check for the cornering light. It will come on if you have the head lights on (not just the daytime running lights) and turn on the turn signal. It is a steady (not flashing) light that will go off when the turn signal is turned off. It does not operate if the headlights are off. It is provided on both sides.

Cornering lamps were part of the so called "Prestige Option Package (SE)" on the 1997 LeSabre Limited. Not sure about the Custom.
