did any Metro/Firefly/Sprint/Swift have a rear wiper option?

With winter arriving here in 4 months or so, I'd like to know if there's a way I can mount a rear wiper to the hatch of my Metro. Hatchback cars, and vans, seem to attract road salt and dirt like a magnet for some reason. On my hatch it looks like there is a spot for the wiper to moutn, there's a little black cover there. If I did mount up a wiper, would I also be able to use a washer nozzle with it? There's lots of blank spots on my dash where a switch could go. What models would I have to look for to get a rear wiper/washer nozzle thing?

I know the 89 Swift that I bought for parts had 1. I'm not sure about the other year model cars.

89-94 Metro, Swift, Sprint and Firefly models all could be equipped with a rear washer and wiper in their respective upper level trim packages.

Re: did any Metro/Firefly/Sprint/Swift have a rear wiper option?

Infinitrium:
I own a 1996 4 door metro 1.3L. A couple months ago, I had to replaced the washer motor (a tiny cylinder in the white wiper reservoir), at that time, I realized my car comes with the wiring for rear wiper since it has both motor connectors and also both are energized. I suppose it is unexpensive to GM let the wiring same way for all vehicles.

Check yours, maybe your wiring is in there and you just need the rear thing + a switch. I had saw many swifts and metros with the rear option.

Hope this helps pal!

MC.

A lot of cars have places for options and things to the like, even if your specific one does not have it. This gives dealers better flexability in installing options that customers order. Some of my favorite examples... First, passenger assist grips that go over the seats. All four seating positions have pre-tapped holes under the headliner for these handles, however they only could be ordered over the passenger seat. Secondly, the remote hatchback release handle. All you have to do is get the striker, the handle and the cable from a Metro that was equipped with one, and screw it in. All of the mounting holes are there. This makes auto manufacturers more money in the long run, because the options can be installed on the fly, and increase the purchase price because it is an "a-la-carte" option, and not included in a package.
