crank sensor location??

1990 Cutlass Ciera 3.3. When the car has been run for a while, it shuts down. Turns out to be a no spark issue. I thought it was the ignition module and replaced that first. No luck! I've been told the other problem may be the crank sensor, but the car is 1.5 hours away, and I need to know what I'm getting into b/4 I drive all the way up. I've been told 2 things, it's either somewhere on the bellhousing for the transaxle, or it's behind the crank pulley. That pretty much covers from one end of the engine to the other!!!! Literally! The other location I was told is possibly under the ignition module. 3 choices......Any help would be greatly appriciated, Thanks, Doug

Re: crank sensor location??

This is behind your crankshaft pulley. you should be able to see the two wire clip to the right of your bottom pulley on your engine. I would pull that off cuz your tolerance needs to be right on and the tools alone to pull of and put a harmoning balancer on a 3.3 are $400 alone. Just for a $42 sensor.

Re: crank sensor location??

I bought the sensor myself (got a new harmonic balancer too) and paid my dealership hour and a half labor ($150) to pull my balancer off, replace my oem sensor and put balancer back on.....
