block heater?

Hi all. I recently bought a 96 Grand Am Se. I can't seem to find the block heater. I'm not sure what it looks like or where I should be looking. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jen

dont know what they look like either....but if its a 96 it might not have a block heater. They are optional on all cars (because they are only needed in cold weather areas).

Re: block heater?

If your car is equipped with a block heater you should find a 110-volt plug somewhere on the drivers side of the engine compartment. They are just heater elements that replace one of the freeze plugs in the block so you won't actually be able to see the heater itself unless it is an aftermarket one that plumbs into the heater hose.
