Radio Harness

I was going to change the radio in my 97' runner. I tried to get a wire harness but It couldn't fit, so I just cut the factory harness. I tried to connect it to the aftermarket radio but the wires aren't the same, can anyone tell me the wire colors for the runner and there functions. and another thing, I have 2 cables in, I know one is for the Antenna, but what is the other one for. Finally, since I couldn't put un the aftermarket radio, I just put in the factory radio back in, and now it won't work, just a red light blinks. I know the code, but I can't acces it, the manual said to press 1,tune ^, at the same time, but it still won't work.

I bet a radio shop would know which wire goes where. I would return the aftermarket stereo, then find the same one at a shop with free installation. Then let them deal with it.

Otherwise you will need to splice the wires back together, or get a wiring diagram to figure it out.

I am replacing the unit in my 99 4RUNNER and am having the same problem with the wiring and two antenna wires. Where did you hook up the smaller antenna wire? Do you know what it's for?

just wire your old harness back up and go to the site and buy a cheap aftermarket harness.
