91civicguy - the DOHC ZC has 5 more hp than the d16z6 and 3 more hp than the d16y8. But i consider them pretty even from what i have seen

apparently the motor only had 40 000 K on it when it was brought over, also, its pretty much apart now, took the intake off the head, stripping the valve cover down now to paint it blue like my old one, waiting for my brother to tell me i can use his engine stand, oil pan is brand new gonna strip that and paint it, motor looks fairly clean all over tho, gonna drop the oil pan asap and see what suprises are in there lol, the runners for the intake were black as night, and also the ones going into the heads were too, how can i check if theres a bent valve? and would it be safe to clean up and paint the stock cam gears? this is gonna be one fun project i tell ya! i hope to have it done in a month or 2 for sure

Re: great news

my SI intake was all black and grimy when I got it, soaked it in carb cleaner and it all came off. Take the head off and look for a bent valve you could allways do a compression test for a bent valve also. You can paint the insides of the cam geat, dont paint the part the belt touches though. Build ups are allways great, take your time. I'm currently building a race spec 258 (4.2Liter) inline 6.

yea i dont think i got ripped off, guy paid 250 for the motor and i got it for 100 cuz hes moving out to british columbia on the 24th so i see it as a win for me, saved 400 for it, by the end i might have a zc for under 500

also, you wouldnt happen to have any spare ZC parts laying around, like saw the sensor for the cam and a dizzy?
