Re: hi, im a noob with a question

I would think he would win because from what I hear S10s are not that quick. His lude is maybe mid to high 15s your S10 is like mid to high 16s. But hey if its just for fun race and find out.

Re: hi, im a noob with a question

200 hp ain't that much in a truck. The Mustang makes more than that, it's way lighter, and it runs 15 flat. I'd say you'd run low-mid 16's.

So you've raced it at a track before or is that what you're assuming it can do?

Re: hi, im a noob with a question

A mustang would wiegh more or the same as an s-10...There's nothing to those trucks but some tin and plastic. I think the truck would win. My buddy has a 98 lude with a nice exhaust and an auto tranny. It's a 16.3 car. Not impressive at all.

Re: hi, im a noob with a question

It's probably not VTEC then. VTEC 'Ludes are 5-speed only, and they make 195 hp as opposed to 160. Those run low 15's with a decent driver.

Re: hi, im a noob with a question

hmmm this is not a easy one to pick. it's depends on if it's 5-speed or not and like everyone said if it is 5-speed it's prob a v-tec. I think if it's a v-tec game over he's going to win but other then that if he's running a auto then i think you could take him. there's only one way to find out and that's to RACE. also welcome to the forum.

I say the truck, those older S-10s weigh around 2700-2800lbs. Add that to a RWD platform with a semi-potent V8. And it'll scoot right along.

The Prelude isn't much lighter, and doesn't have the torque. Nor does it have the launching advantage of RWD.

Truck has my bet, but more than likely it'll come down to who's the better driver.

Re: hi, im a noob with a question

if your truck truely runs 14's, it will win. I'm not sure what the gearing is like on that truck, but I imagine it's pretty high, so that might hurt you. Also, trucks often don't launch as well as other rwd cars because they don't have much weight in back. The bed's just a bunch of empty space, and no weight over the drive wheels = wheelspin.

I say it's a driver's race. Depending on the year of the prelude, it's either a very high 14 second car to a mid 15 second car.

I agree... just don't spin your tires on the launch. Get a good solid start and i think you can take the prelude, whether it's vtec or not.
