boost controller
Hey, I have a 3 questions on boost and boost controllers for a 1995 3kgt vr4.
How much boost can the 3kgt handle? On the Blitz DSBC Boost Controller (Spec R) what is the highest boost ratio 1-100 I can go without risking detonation? IF I got a Dr-500, then how much boost can it handle? thanks in advance -Jason |

You can take the boost to 14 psi on all stock parts and you'll be completely fine. You can inch it up a bit (around 14.5) and should still be good. After that, its kind of a crapshoot.

if you want to run any decent boost levels, first off, dont run them on stock turbos, the stock turbos create a lot of heat, and even that, they will only hold about 10-12 psi to redline because they dont supply enough air for the engine. Now, by upgrading to DR500s, you can only run what was previously stated on stock fuel components. Just drop a few hundred dollars on either a walbro 255 or 341 fuel pump, 450cc or higher flowing injectors, and some type of fuel management, whether its an ARC 2, MAFT, E-manage, or S-AFC, then you can crank the boost up. If you do plan on raising the boost up higher than stock fuel components can handle, i do recommend the purchase of a datalogger.

Re: boost controller
is there any fuel management that I don't need a computer to make it work?

LS6 MAFT, ARC 2, and S-AFC do not need computers. Obviously, the S-AFC is going to be the cheapest and tune the finest. Although, the LS6 MAFT will put you some nice torque numbers down.

Re: boost controller
I thinking about buying an ARC 2, they seem pretty nice and you can upgrade the MAS....I have a question, is it possible to run 15 PSI nicely?

not on stock fuel components

Re: boost controller
thanks guys but im still really new on the whole fuel componets thing, If i get denso pump, and new injectors, then will I be able to run 15 PSI on a dr-500 or dr-650??
also, can you explain how a fuel management system works, like, what kind of work is in it? |

sense you are still pretty new, if you want to go the cheap route and run about 15-17 psi on the dr500s, then get some DSM 450cc injectors and a walbro 255 lph fuel pump, and an s-afc. If you want to run more boost like 20 psi or so, get some 550cc injectors, walbro 341 pump, and i dont know if an S-AFC can handle the correction of a 550, you might have to get an LS6 MAFT or ARC 2 for that one, or greddy fuel management. On the the S-AFC's, when you hook it up to the ECU, it tricks the ECU into saying that there is less air coming into the engine then their actually is so that it wont spray as much fuel, since the bigger fuel injectors will spray more fuel, you dont want to run rich.

Re: boost controller
If it is the Denso 195130-1020 (Supra Pump)
Like here: http://www.3sxperformance.com/fuel.asp Then yes. "One key step in upgrading your fuel system is the fuel pump. The stock fuel pump is sufficient to a point, but when you are upgrading turbos you need MORE fuel and sufficient flow and line pressure to support larger injectors - not enough fuel means running lean which leads to, well, bad things in your motor ;-) This Denso pump is one of the top rated pumps for the 3000GT and Stealth. With a flow rate of 290 lph at 43psi at 13.5 volts, it will support just about any bolt-on turbo upgrade. This is over 50% MORE fuel than the stock pump. And the beauty of this pump is it is a drop-in replacement for the stock pump - you simply swap in this pump for the stock one and you're off and running! Denso Fuel Pump: $239.95"

You can run 20 psi by just upgrading the fule system and turbos and ? Wha tkind of power is that? And how much would the fule system upgrades to run 20 cost all togeather? Damn I can't wait to get a VR4 next summer, gotta work all year through school though, and make a profit when I sell the SL.
