Is it worh it?
my Tsi has 150,000 miles on the motor, now with this many miles i was not sure if i should go ahead and try building up preformance on this motor with a potential for disaster. Or am i better oof buying a new 4g63 and then building it up?
PS: or is the 4g63 that solid enougf of a motor ,and sould i just worry about the turbo that also has 150,000 miles on it also?

Re: Is it worh it?
it depends on what you are going to do. if you are going to change the internals, bore it, pistons, everithing, you are goin to leave the car just like new, just me
It depense if you are thinking on put a bigger turbo, i don't know if it worth it in that way without changing the internals. In my opinio it worth it.

Re: Is it worh it?
Pushing the motor to the kind of power that stock internals are supposed to handle will probably make it wear out fast. If you are asking if the block is still a good candidate for a rebuild with forged internals, then yes it's still good. I wouldn't put anything larger than a 16g on it until you are ready for a new motor.

Re: Is it worh it?
You'll have quite a while before you'll need to replace major internals. Seals and gaskets are certainly another story, however. I would expect that if you put any performance mods on this car, or drive it hard, that you are going to exacerbate old seals and end up with oil leaks.
I agree with Joe though...even a 150k mile tsi should be able to run 12s or 13s for a good while before you need to rebuild something major. If you know you want to go straight to something bigger than a 16g, you'll want to upgrade the engine itself now. |
