2001 Montana Transmission Shifting Problem

Our 2001 Montana with 47K shifts really hard (up and down) after sitting in heavy street traffic (stop and go) for a period of time. Does not appear to overheat as temp guage stays in normal area. If you stop and let the vehicle sit for 20-30 minutes, trasmission works fine until the next time you are in heavy street traffic again. We had fluid changed (not flushed) about two months ago when this problem started showing up. We are taking into Pontiac dealer next week as ext warranty is still in effect. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks to all who responded. I just received a call from the dealer and the problem was the Pressure Control Solenoid. Hopefully, this will help eliminate much bigger transmission problems down the road.

how much did it cost at the dealer to get the pressure control solenoid replaced, and did this fix your problem?

The total bill was 652.00, but it was covered under our extended warranty so we just had to pay the deductible. So far the problem has not occured again, so it appears that it did correct the problem.
