Re: i want rims but the tires scare me

its called plus sizing. If you increase the diameter of the rim, you decrease the sidewall in order to keep the stock overall diameter.

Take a look at tires.com or discounttire.com and look into plus sizing. Even make some calls. The people at both those places know their shit. They'll let you know what size tire to get for which size rim in order to keep the stock diameter.

Or use a tire size calculator

My honda may have less displacement than your coke bottle, but I'll race your coke bottle for $1000. Who says there's no replacement for displacement?

When you buy wheels, make sure to get the proper wheel offset.

For your Civic you will need:

15x6.5" = 38-42mm offset: 195/55x15" or 205/50x15" tires
15x7" = 42-44mm offset: 205/50x15" tires
16x7" = 42-44mm offset: 205/45x16" tires
16x7.5" = 43-44mm offset: 205/45x16" or 215/40x16" tires
17x7" = 42-44mm offset: 205/40x17" tires
