Rear view mirror removal - '94 Passat

Another silly question....
How do you remove the rear view mirror on a '94 Passat? The one on my car is very loose, causing it to shake & rattle while driving. This makes the mirror virtually useless. There doesn't appear to be any visible fastener. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

It has a spring clip that holds it to the windshield button. I think you just need to rotate the stem base and it should pop off.
