Keyless entry question

I have a keyless entry controller thingy, that for some reason wont work unless you push down by the part where you hook your keyring on...any ideas..it starting to annoy me, its been doing this for a while, and just recently ever since i owned the car i got the panic to go off when i realllly didnt want it to....10 o clock at night...couldnt shut it off..yeah it sucked...

more than likely the little clip that holds the two halves of the remote broke or bent. it sounds like what is happening is the battery is not making contact with the leads that power the remote. no power, no worky...
