Ding, Ding, Ding when the door opens!!!
This is for a 93 Grand Marquis. Half the time when you open the driver's door you hear the Ding, ding, ding sound as if you have left your keys in the ignition and the car is turned off.....but this time the keys are not in the ignition.
What is causing that? Someone said the ignition switch is worn and needs to be replaced, but that does not make sense.... Unless it is a warning feature. Has anyone heard of this? thanks |

Re: Ding, Ding, Ding when the door opens!!!
Take the keys out of the ignition as you normally would. Place them in your seat. Start the car. There's your problem. The ignition switch needs replaced. Your other option is to make sure when you pull the key out to turn the switch as far toward you as possible and then try and start it without the key. If it doesn't move, it's locked. You may also run into a problem later with the key sticking between the 2nd (all accessories on) and 3rd (starting) positions. If this happens, the emergency brake light will come on and you won't have accessories like radio.
