Engine Swap Saturn SL1 1995 into a Saturn SL 94

Hey,

I was wondering if it`s possible to swap a Saturn SL1 1995 Fuel Injection into a Saturn SL 94 TBI? It is surelly possible but what is to changed? Because the injection system isn`t the same.

Thx
Bert

it can be done, you'll also need to change the wiring harness and PCM. you might need to drill and tap a new hole in the cylinder head, but can't remember, let me get back to you on that.

may i ask why? also what are you tranmissions?

The reason why I plan to do this is because, I had the 95, and the first engine busted! BOOM! so i put a new one in it. But I had an accident not long ago and the air bag popped out, so the car was declared SCRAP and I have a 94 SL , but I would like to have my new engine in this one. The 2 saturns are manual transmission.

Thx in advance
Bert

Yes it can be done

I swaped out my oil burning engine from my 94' SL with one from a 98' SL all you need to do is swap the intake manifold and drill out the Cyl head to accomodate the Coolant sensor located below the rad hose. If you dont want to drill out the Cyl head you can use some line fittings and install the sensor inline with the coolant overflow hose. All this sensor does is control the gauge on the dash not the PCM.
