you'd need a new head unit and speakers. it'd be a pain.

Exactly, and for the price you'll pay for speakers, head unit and amps, you can get a nice aftermarket system that will sound as good, or better. As well as the ability to play MP3, add XM, etc etc

I like bose stock head units, because the fact the are very good, plus you really don't have to worry about people stealing your shit.

There are two problems with using Stock bose speakers with an aftermarket head unit. The first is that the stock Bose head unit sends an un amplified signal to seperate Bose amps, which then send the amplified signal to the speakers. When you add an aftermarket head unit, you will then be sending an amplified signal, to another amp, then to the speaker. You will need to buy an adapter that costs around 50 dollars to work an aftermarket head unit, to the stock bose speakers and amps. Id you don't, it will still work, but you have a greater chance of blowing the speakers, and you will most likely hear alternator whining. The second problem with Bose speakers is that they have a different impedence level then most aftermarket speakers. 8 ohms to 4 ohms and so forth.

I say screw BOSE

you shouldn't. same wires from head unit to the speakers, just now with bose, the signal will be un amplified untill it gets to those amps. you just need bose head unit, bose amps, and bose speakers.
