Unhappy HELP!!!!!! with turn signals and brake light

I just baught a 90 olds cutlass supreme and no turn signals work at all. I can turn the hazard lights on but the driver side rear signal doesn't work and the same side brake light doesn't work. the yellow wire from the siganl to the panel underneath the glove box has a good connection and all the fuses are ok.

I baught the car for $200 and need to replace the strut on the driver rear and the torque struts on top of the engine and it's legal, (besides the turn signals)

PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW WHAT MAY BE WRONG.

Thanks

I had a similar problem with my 93 olds. Turned out to be the signal switch in the stering wheel. You will have to change it. You will have to remove the steering wheel and change out the switch. It will be a little hard but it can be done. I suggest buying the repair manual for the car. Saved me alot of time and money!! The steering wheel puller can be borrowed from a part house like autozone...etc

Re: HELP!!!!!! with turn signals and brake light

Before you try all of that try this. I have a 93 supreme with the same problem. Try put a little presure on the handle like you are trying to tunr your brights on. I have to hold mine inorder for my brake lights to work and for my turn signals to work its a lot easier than ripping your steering column apart.

before you go headlong into repairs...just check your bulbs..sometimes a loose pigtail or burned bulbs can cause the whole system to go out..if the bulbs look good, and there is no corrosion around the terminals..then go forth with the signal switch..just start small and work your way up..i have seen this before.

When [if] you go to the junk yard for this part you may find that they will only sell you the whole steering column. Mine came out of a Buick. Works great now and I have a Buick Steering wheel to hang in my garage. Cost was $80.00 About the same as the dealer for just the part.
