ok i went with my brother to pep boys and i was gonna buy some castrol super clean because i wanted to test out if it works on an old beat model. they were out of castrol so i got this stuff called purple power. got 2 gallons for 6 bucks. i put the model in this for an hour and almost all the paint was off. this stuff works great! it took off a layer of silver, blue, abotu 4 layers of red, and a couple coats of primer. it is cheaper and it works just as good so i recomend picking some up

Exactly the same product, sold under a different name. But it does work great- it's what I use!

Re: awsome paint remover
I Use Easy Off Oven Cleaner And Put The Model In A Bag And Let It Sit Over Night Then In The Morn I Run Water Over It And Scrub With The Rough Side Of A Sponge

Re: awsome paint remover
Ammonia does it in a few mins. 91% IPO could work but ammonia is cheaper

a few questions:
1. once you use purple power, what do you do with the liquid that you used? drain it? or can I use it again? (I have 2 models that I wanna remove old paint off) 2. after the model has been soaked by purple power for a day, how did you clean the old paint? 3. does purple power smell strong? (sorry..kinda newbie question, but never dealt with such product before) |

I wouldn't water down CSC (or purple power, as it's the same thing). I've been using the same CSC for the past 2 years now and it's still working fine after plenty of strippings. Brake fluid doesn't seem to last as long though. Also, CSC will not strip lacquer paints. No Tamiya TS Sprays, Duplicolor, Plasticote...none of those.

If CSC does not strip the ones that you described, then what DOES it strip? I Do want to strip Tamiya TS Sprays. In this case, what would you recommend to use to strip the paint? |

People keep posting about using some wonderful stripper but they don't say what type of paint they are stripping. Surely it makes a big difference? For example, I use Windex to strip acrylic paint but I think it would be useless on enamel (would make enamel paint really clean though).

Re: awsome paint remover
So what strips lacquer paint? Like dupicolor?

Re: awsome paint remover
I have used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to strip Tamiya sprays and Duplicolor paints. I haven't tried it yet on Plasti Kote paints.

obituary, after i used my purple power i stuck it in a coffee can then put it in a bag and in the trash can but you could pour it out cause its not harmful. to clean the paint off i just rinsed it off in the sink and scrubbed it with an old toothbrush.and uhh i guess it dont smell that strong cause i only smelled it when i was right near it. everyone else mine took of primer and 6 coats of enamel.
