Please help with specs
I have a 2001 cavalier with a 2.2L engine and auto transmission. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer. 1) How much HP does this engine have, and 2) How much HP can it be maxed to without damaging anything?
Thanks in advance |

base hp i think is 115 but it feels less than that i say around 99-105 flywheel hp. I think that with bolt ons you could get up to 145 or so. have you driven a cav with a 2.4 or a ecotec yet?

No, i didn't know about them at the time that I got my car. I was desperate for a car and now I wish I hadn't been. I am looking to add on some hp to this car as I'll have it for a while.

it is 115 flywheel hp.. it is more like 95 to the wheels... i would recommend "bolting on" a turbo...

Re: Please help with specs
The base power is 115, but the power loss by the time it gets to the wheels is about 15%. With the right mods though (no NOS or Turbo) you can almost double that. You're going to spend some bucks though.
